How To Play Guitar Fast And Easy In No Time Using 3 Creative Practice Techniques
Playing guitar fast shouldnāt feel like a struggle.
Playing guitar fast and easy doesnāt have to take many years of practice either. Instead, playing with speed becomes effortless when you simply apply a few basic concepts consistently to bring both hands together in sync.
Lock Both Hands
Together In Sync Using Intense Circuit Training To Challenge Yourself Like
Never Before
Circuit training means practicing several things with great intensity, one-after-the-other in a set period of time. This practice method is very effective at getting fast results. Using this approach together with the right techniques helps you play guitar fast and easy in no time.
Playing guitar fast becomes effortless when you are able to
lick both hands in perfect sync as you play.
This practice circuit helps you do it ā follow the steps below:
Step One: Choose a short guitar lick or section of a longer guitar lick
that you want to play faster and cleaner.
Determine the maximum guitar speed at which you can play it
cleanly. Have a metronome ready at 10 beats per minute above this speed (to be
used only in step 5).
Step Two: Pick
the entire practice item you chose using double picking (every note picked
twice) for 30 seconds.
Step Three: Pick
the entire practice item using normal picking for 30 seconds.
Step Four: Repeat steps 2-3 three
times for a total of 3 minutes, then immediately move to the next step.
Step Five: Using your metronome,
pick the guitar lick normally at 10 beats per minute above your maximum speed.
Step Six: Repeat steps 2-3 once more
at original speed (played freely without a metronome). Then move onto the final
step.
Step Seven: Pick the guitar lick
normally for 1 minute at its original speed.
This circuit trains you to think at faster speeds using a combination of double picking (to help your fretting hand catch up to your picking hand) and playing above your comfort zone. This makes playing the guitar lick fast feel easy.
Quickly Warm-Up Your Hands And Make Fast Guitar Playing Easy Using Single String Scale Sequences
Single string guitar licks challenge you to fret notes at the exact moment you pick them (otherwise they sound unclear/sloppy). This makes them an excellent exercise for warming up your hands and improving your ability to play guitar fast with less effort.
Playing single string scale sequences that involve no hammer ons or pull offs maximizes the effect of the exercise on bring your hands together. This tons of precision to play notes clean and clear, quickly warming up your hands and improving synchronization between them.

Repeat each sequence of 3 several times, then play the entire sequence together as one guitar lick. This sounds cool, and quickly primes your hands for playing at light speed.
Make Fast Guitar Playing Easier By
Practicing Unplugged To Fix Frustrating Mistakes
Playing guitar using distortion masks mistakes and inconsistencies in your picking technique. You challenge yourself to pick with excellent articulation by playing guitar unplugged. After practicing like this, playing guitar fast with distortion becomes much easier.
Supplement your regular guitar practice routine with 5-10 minutes of unplugged practice.
Choose any guitar lick from your practice schedule to do this.
As you practice, you quickly find that several notes are either missed or partially missed. This is frequently due to not having your hands in great sync with each other. A great way to fix this is to combine playing unplugged with picking with lots of power.
This forces you to articulate notes loud and clear. You may miss more notes at first, but eventually picking with power becomes natural and your notes not only become louder, but more clean and higher quality.
Result: When you play guitar fast using distortion, it becomes WAY cleaner and feels easier than ever before⦠just from practicing a little bit without your amp!
