Free Video Tips For Playing Fast Guitar Solos That Impress Your Friends

Wish you could play guitar solos that were impressive and made your friends stop and pay attention?

Good news:

You can probably play some killer solos right now…

…You just need the right information to help you fulfill your potential and take advantage of the skills you already have.

Sound good?

Great!

Develop Smooth And Effortless Guitar Picking

Did you know that picking with alternate picking all the time isn’t the best way to play as fast and effortless as the pros?

The secret to playing with smooth and fast speed while soloing is to pick more efficiently.

Now you understand the power of using picking technique that is more economical. Apply this a little bit each day until this becomes your default picking style. (Practicing on it just a bit each day is less overwhelming than abandoning your current picking style entirely.)

You’ll be glad you did!

Tip: How To Give Your Lead Guitar Playing More Emotional Life

Use some phrasing ornaments on the notes, such as bends and vibrato, slides and hammer-ons and pull offs.

This adds tons more expression to your phrasing.

All you need to do is simply change the way the notes are emphasized (instead of picking every single note, you can bend into some of the notes, slide into some of the notes, apply hammer-ons and pull offs to some notes, in any combination) and add wider vibrato to important notes.

This is also an easy adjustment to make that makes a massive difference.

Overlooked Guitar Playing Cleanliness Issue: Inconsistency

It’s common for guitarists too have a lot of inconsistencies in how the notes are attacked while they are playing.

To fix this, record the same guitar part two times into your computer and pan one track all the way to the left and the other all the way to the right.

Then listen (using headphones if possible) and become aware of where inconsistencies occur. This will be easy, because as soon as you notice anything that happens in one ear/speaker but not in the other, that is a sign of a problem.

Find what that problem is (by listening to each recording in isolation) and then when you practice playing again, pay attention to keep that area tighter/cleaner.

For example, you may notice that you tend to play the same part either with softer or harder palm muting. This will mean that you should focus on your palm muting in that section of the tune and keep the pressure consistent while playing.

If you notice that one track has string noise in a certain spot but sounds clean in the other, that means you need to more carefully observe your muting techniques as you play that spot in the music to ensure that the noise never happens.

This helps make your aural skills more refined so that you can become more sensitive to your own imperfections and fix them. Do this exercise as part of your guitar practice and your playing will get tighter.

Pick Every Note With Power

Picking with weak power during your guitar solos results in less clear sounding notes, sloppy mistakes and soloing that has less conviction.

Adding more power to your picking attack is a simple way to fix these issues without learning anything complicated.

Use this video as a wakeup call for your picking hand! Focus on picking with good power as much as possible to make notes sound more clearly and improve your playing by making just a simple change in your pick attack.

Mute The Strings Effectively

Think you have great muting technique, but you only use palm muting?

Think again!

Palm muting works well for playing chunky rhythm parts, but is not particularly effective for muting unwanted string noise consistently.

It’s NOT the most effective way to clean up your guitar playing so you can play fast and clean.

Thumb muting efficiently mutes the strings without pulling your hand away from the guitar.
